To my fellow Constituents:
The 2016 Session is now virtually completed, and will be officially ended with Sine Die on June 1, 2016. On Wednesday, April 26 I announced that I will not be filing for re-election for the District 99 seat. The passing of my wife Annette on February 5, 2015, coupled with the birth of my first grandchild, Joseph on March 31, 2015 brought in a whole new world of circumstances, priorities, and view to the future. Being in the legislature provided camaraderie, and friendships which I will cherish forever.
However, I must move to a new phase of life and my sense is that it is time to focus on family in Dallas and my continuing business interests in Wichita. I will be maintaining very high interest in Energy, Environmental, Education and Fiscal issues, and policy-making going forward. What is happening at the national level certainly has my attention and after the elections this fall we will have a whole new world.
This Session just ended provided us with plentiful challenges with respect to the Budget, Tax Policy, Energy Policy and Education Finance. We may yet have further activity to handle regarding School Finance, though I believe we in the Kansas Legislature, House & Senate, did our level best to honor the Kansas Constitution and fully fund Kansas Education. Please feel free to contact me with any issues for which I may be able to provide you assistance. I have greatly enjoyed serving as your state representative and I do hope that the majority of my voting history met with your approval and improved the quality of your life.
Sincerely and respectfully,
